Oyo Assembly Chief Whip Speaks On Plan To Impeach Makinde

The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gbenga Oyekola, has denied reports linking him to an alleged plan by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Oyekola, who represents Atiba State Constituency, made the clarification in a statement posted on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday.

The lawmaker, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, said he was neither invited nor consulted regarding any meeting or arrangement aimed at removing the governor.

He insisted that he would not be involved in any activity capable of disrupting the peace of the state.

Oyekola said, “I, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, hereby completely disassociate myself from any arrangement or activity that has the potential to disrupt the peace of Oyo State.

“I was never invited, never consulted, and was not part of any such meetings or arrangements.”

Oyekola also reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Makinde and pledged continued support for his administration.

According to him, he remains committed to the unity and development of the state.

He added, “I cannot and will not be disloyal to my boss, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

“I reaffirm my unwavering loyalty and support for Governor Seyi Makinde, his government, and his party. I remain firmly committed to the peace, unity, and continued progress of Oyo State.”
