Ohanaeze Ndigbo throws weight behind Minister Umahi over Winhomes allegations

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has thrown its support behind the Minister of Works, David Umahi over his prolonged battle with the Chief Executive Officer of Winhomes Global Services, Stella Okengwu.

Recall that Umahi and Okengwu have continued to engage in a war of words over the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Super Highway and its effect on Winhomes investment on the section of the road.

However, the apex Igbo socio-political group warned Okengwu and all Igbo people to quit casting aspersions or engaging in campaigns of calumny against political leaders from the Southeast region.

In a statement issued by Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Thompson Ohia, the group’s Deputy President General and National Spokesman, the group, said the disturbing patterns of deliberate attacks against Igbo leaders are unnecessary and deeply regrettable.

According to the group, its leadership has conducted a thorough investigation and careful consideration, and the evidence shows that these attacks are sponsored efforts aimed at undermining the collective interests of Ndigbo under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Ohanaeze noted that the attacks on Umahi are orchestrated by enemies of Ndigbo, seeking to pit the region’s weakest links against its strongest champions in a concerted effort to derail the progress being made in the Southeast.

“For clarity, Senator (Engr.) Nweze David Umahi’s pedigree is not one that can be tarnished by malicious propaganda. His rise to prominence as a successful businessman, civil engineer, and contractor at a young age speaks volumes about his character and competence. Before venturing into politics, Umahi’s track record as a successful entrepreneur and civil engineering consultant was already exemplary.

“His political journey began when he was elected as the State Chairman of the PDP in Ebonyi, eventually becoming the Deputy Governor, and in 2015, he was elected as the third democratically elected Governor of Ebonyi State. His tenure as Governor and Senator and later as Minister of Works has cemented his status as one of the most effective and result-oriented leaders in Nigeria’s federal executive Council,” Ohanaze Ndigbo said.

It further declared that no amount of defamatory rhetoric, malicious gossip, or unfounded accusations will divert

Umahi from his mission as he remains resolute in his commitment to ensuring that the critical road projects across the nation, especially in the Southeastern region.
