The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Jos Operations Office, in collaboration with the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (PLASEMA), has conducted direct distribution of relief materials to victims of the March 29, 2026 gunmen attack at Angwan Rukuba, Gari Ya Waye Market, in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
It will be recalled that the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, earlier in the month delivered relief items and medical supplies on behalf of the Federal Government to support those affected by the attack. The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, who received the items on behalf of the victims, expressed appreciation to NEMA and assured that the State Government would collaborate closely with the Agency to ensure that only the affected persons benefited from the intervention.
The distribution exercise was carried out at Government Secondary School Chonyap, Angwan Rukuba, and the Jos North Local Government Secretariat, under the supervision of State and Local Government officials, as well as security agencies and other stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
In their separate remarks, the Head of NEMA Jos Operations Office, Hajiya Bintu Wana, and the Executive Secretary of PLASEMA, Dr. Sunday Abdu, expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and prayed for lasting peace. They also urged residents to continue to live peacefully and support efforts aimed at preventing future occurrences.
Earlier in the week, medical consumables were distributed to hospitals where most of the injured victims received treatment, as part of efforts to support their recovery.
Leaders of both the Christian and Muslim communities commended NEMA for the timely provision of relief materials and support to the affected persons.(Source, NEMA, Facebook)
