The Supreme Court has affirmed the leadership of the African Democratic Congress led by former Senate President, Senator David Mark.
The apex court also set aside the status quo ante bellum order earlier made in the leadership dispute rocking the party.
In a unanimous judgment delivered on Thursday, the Supreme Court dismissed the preliminary objection filed by lawyers representing the Nafiu faction against the appeal.
The court recognised David Mark and his team as the leaders of the party, but referred the matter back to the Federal High Court for further proceedings.
The judgment marks a major development in the prolonged leadership crisis within the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The dispute had involved competing claims to the leadership of the party, with the David Mark-led group and the faction linked to Nafiu Gombe locked in legal battles over control of the ADC’s national structure.
