The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its offensive against insurgents with the destruction of a террорист enclave at Kangarwa in the Northern Tumbuns axis of Borno State.
The air interdiction mission was carried out on April 1, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
Ejodame said the operation was based on credible intelligence, further reinforced by earlier Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions.
He noted that the ISR missions confirmed the presence and sustained activities of terrorists within the enclave.
According to him, a number of террорист fighters were observed moving within structures and concealed positions before the strike.
“Following positive identification and target confirmation, NAF air assets conducted successive aggressive strike passes, delivering accurate fires on the identified locations,” Ejodame stated.
He explained that the bombardment obliterated key structures and destroyed logistics hubs used by the террорист elements.
He added that scores of fighters were neutralised, leaving the enclave significantly degraded and its operational capability diminished.
Ejodame further stated that the strike disrupted terrorist mobility and created favourable conditions for ground troops to advance.
He said the ground forces are expected to exploit the effects of the bombardment and sustain coordinated clearance operations.
According to him, the operation dealt a devastating blow to ISWAP fighters, with their command and support structures suffering major setbacks.
Ejodame also quoted the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, as reiterating the force’s commitment to sustained offensive operations.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver precision, intelligence-driven strikes in close coordination with surface forces,” he said.
