BASHAR Aliyu-Buhari, Special Adviser to the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has distributed working tools to 300 youths in Kebbi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the youths empowered with working tools were trained for three months, six months and one year, respectively.
The beneficiaries received training on catering, bakery, embroidery, electrical wiring, phone repairs, sewing, tailoring, welding, painting, POP, furniture making and make-up, among other vocational training.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony held in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, the special adviser to the minister disclosed that this was not the first youth empowerment initiative he had championed in the state for the minister.
He said: “You know they say seeing is believing. I am sure you have seen for yourself how these youths came out en masse in solidarity with this empowerment and their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kebbi Governor, His Excellency Dr Nasir Idris.
“This is not a political gathering; this is a programme to celebrate our youths who have been trained on various vocational skills.
“All of us can see the turnout of youths for ourselves. They were happy and jubilating, which shows their declaration of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Kebbi Governor.”
Aliyu-Buhari noted that the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning meant well for the people of Kebbi and Nigeria at large, saying that the empowerment was not the first time he had been reaching out to vulnerable people.
“Sen. Atiku Bagudu is a national asset. What he has been doing in Kebbi also extends to the entire nation and international communities. Just recently, he came back from Vienna where he went to represent Nigeria at the Hydrogen summit.
“This is just a few of the things he has been doing as the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning.
“He is championing a lot of initiatives aimed at ensuring national development. Many of these initiatives and projects are ongoing in Kebbi and across Nigeria.
“That is why, in the entire Northern Nigeria, Kebbi is the first state where people are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“And with the hard work of the minister, we are going to get massive votes from the electorate in Kebbi for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Gov. Nasir Idris, courtesy of the hard work of Sen. Atiku Bagudu,” he said.
Aliyu-Buhari appealed to the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously to become employers of labour.
In his remarks, the Project Manager of the empowerment programme, Mr Ibrahim Ngaski, confirmed that the empowerment exercise was not the first by the special adviser, stressing that the aide attached importance to human capital development.
“This empowerment is for the 2025 graduates, and we are hoping that we will get another set of graduates in 2026 who will be empowered and provided with different working tools like this,” he said.
Earlier, the District Head of Dutsimary, Alhaji Bello Marafa, advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment tools and resist any attempt to sell them off.
The empowerment ceremony was attended by both male and female graduates from different Local Government Areas of Kebbi. (NAN)
