The Kaduna state high court has adjourned the hearing of a bail application filed by Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna state to the first week of June 2026.
El-Rufai is currently facing multiple charges bordering on alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Ukpon Akpan, his counsel faulted the repeated adjournments, describing the delays as unnecessary and suggesting possible political undertones.
The former governor arrived at the court around 9am in a convoy, accompanied by operatives of the ICPC and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Security presence was tightened within and around the court premises as supporters of the former governor gathered outside to witness proceedings.
The matter was eventually adjourned, with the court fixing the bail hearing for early June 2026.
