For the second time, the arraignment of Alhaja Ganiyat Abiola Ulom and her co-defendant the Managing Director of Consolidated Discounts Limited (CDL), Oluseye Olusoga before Justice Sherifat Sonaike of a Lagos High Court sitting at J.I.C. Taylor Courthouse over alleged forceful entry into a 13-storey building on Lagos Island was stalled due to non-appearance of both defendants in court last Wednesday.
The matter with Suit Number LD/27748C/2026, bothers on the property popularly known as the ACB Building, located at No.100 Broad Street.
The building was said to be in the possession of one Samuel Arisi and was undergoing renovation at the time of the alleged incident.
Recall that at previous sitting, counsel to the first defendant, R. A. Isinsin, had informed the court that his client was ill and admitted in hospital, which accounted for her absence from court at that time.
At Wednesday’s proceedings, a Deputy Director in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice appeared for the prosecution, while Eze Okam announced appearance for the second defendant. Counsel for the first defendant was however, absent.
When the matter was called for arraignment, the prosecutor told the court that although the defendants were not present, parties were exploring an amicable settlement.
She added that the prosecution remained ready to proceed with the arraignment if settlement efforts fail.
Responding, the second defendant’s counsel Eze Okam reiterated that he had earlier informed the court that the second defendant was out of the country but would be available at the next adjourned date.
He urged the court to grant an adjournment to enable his client attend the proceedings.
Following submissions from counsel, Justice Sonaike adjourned the matter to May 20, 2026, for arraignment.
The two-count charge reads:
“That you, Alhaja Ganiyat Abiola Ulom and Oluseye Olusoga, on or about 2021, conspired to commit an offence, to wit: forcible entry into a thirteen-storey building known as the ACB Building, located at No.100 Broad Street, Lagos Island, a property in the possession of Samuel Arisi and undergoing renovation, contrary to Section 412 of the Criminal Law, Chapter C17, Volume 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
“That you, Alhaja Ganiyat Abiola Ulom and Oluseye Olusoga, on or about 2021, forcefully entered the said property, thereby halting ongoing renovation works, contrary to Section 52 of the Criminal Law, Chapter C17, Volume 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
