GOV. Alex Otti of Abia has urged Christians to draw inspiration from the supreme sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary for the redemption of mankind.
Otti gave the charge in his Easter message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Umuahia.
He called on Christians to continually embrace godly virtues of altruism, sacrifice and love, which he said had contributed immensely to the recovery and restoration of the state.
The governor said that such virtues remained necessary in sustaining the progress made in rebuilding Abia.
He commended the courage and commitment of the people of Abia for their support and solidarity with his administration in its efforts to reposition the state.
Otti reassured the people of his administration’s resolve to continue to implement people-oriented programmes and projects aimed at completely rebuilding the state and restoring its glory.
He described Easter as a time for Christians to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, whose victory over death brought eternal hope to humanity.
He felicitated the residents of Abia on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration, and thanked God for the privilege of witnessing another Easter. (NAN)
