The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 1,803 personnel across churches and recreational centres ahead of the 2026 Easter celebration.
The Command said the move is part of efforts to ensure a safe and peaceful festive period for residents of Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh.
Adeh said the deployment includes operational assets and security personnel positioned at strategic locations across the territory.
According to her, the measure is aimed at reinforcing existing policing strategies and preventing criminal activities.
She explained that the Command has intensified visibility policing and intelligence-led operations.
Adeh added that coordinated vehicular and foot patrols have also been put in place to enhance security coverage.
She further disclosed that Explosive Ordnance Disposal units have been deployed to conduct routine sweeps of public spaces.
According to her, the exercise is to detect and neutralise any potential threats during the festive period.
Adeh said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, felicitated with Christians on the Easter celebration.
She noted that the CP urged residents to embrace peace, unity, and mutual respect.
The police spokesperson said the Commissioner also called on religious leaders to promote tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Adeh added that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations.
She urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and report suspicious activities through emergency lines.
