President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing transformative reforms in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and appointing a capable leadership team at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Speaking after a courtesy visit to President Tinubu, Dangote praised the appointments of Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari as Group Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman of NNPCL, describing them as “strategic choices” critical to the company’s repositioning.

Dangote said the newly appointed leadership brings a combination of technical expertise and managerial depth that aligns with the administration’s broader vision for a $1 trillion economy. “This team is not only competent but reform-minded. Under their stewardship, we are confident that NNPCL will achieve operational excellence, transparency, and long-term sustainability,” he stated.

The industrialist emphasized that his remarks about fighting “oil sector cabals” were not directed at the new NNPCL leadership. Rather, he clarified that the statement referred to entrenched interests among oil marketers and traders attempting to sabotage national economic reforms.

Dangote reaffirmed that the current management of NNPCL has been supportive of his refinery project and expressed confidence in their commitment to transparency and institutional efficiency.

“These recent appointments reflect the President’s intent to disrupt the status quo, rebuild trust in public institutions, and push for a more accountable and competitive energy sector,” Dangote said. “We remain optimistic about the direction of the NNPCL and will continue to work collaboratively to ensure the success of Nigeria’s energy reforms.”

He concluded by reiterating the Dangote Group’s unwavering commitment to supporting Nigeria’s energy transition and economic transformation agenda.
