A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has urged the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, to apologise over his remark on the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Recall that a viral video had shown Gbajabiamila encouraging a faction of the ADC, led by Nafiu Gombe and House of Representatives member, Leke Abejide, to sustain internal disruptions within the party.
Gbajabiamila, who spoke at a birthday event hosted by Abejide, praised the lawmaker for what he described as significant contributions to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also advised him to disregard overtures from APC members seeking his formal defection to the ruling party.
Sharing his thoughts during an interview on Arise News, George called for a public apology.
He described the comments as inappropriate and urged the presidential aide to retract them.
George maintained that a public apology was necessary, stressing that although he holds Gbajabiamila in high regard, he strongly disagreed with the comments and viewed them as unacceptable.
George said: “I’m very shocked when I saw the video of my younger brother, Femi Gbajabiamila, you know that people make mistakes, and I did not under any kind of circumstances believe that he would make that kind of mistake.
“It was utterly wrong and he must apologize to the public for that statement, that is my stand, he is my brother and I can’t denounce him but what he said was a monumental political mistake, he should apologize for making that mistake publicly. I don’t agree with him.”
