The Presidency on Friday took a swipe at leading opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, claiming that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is embroiled in a deepening internal crisis.
The criticism was made by the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Onanuga, in a post on 𝕏, said the situation within the African Democratic Congress had worsened following fresh criticism of its national convention.
He referenced remarks by Nafiu Bala, who had described the convention led by David Mark as illegal.
According to him, the development further undermines the credibility of the exercise and highlights the leadership crisis within the party.
Reacting to the situation, Onanuga said the party’s internal disputes had escalated.
“Nafiu Bala Gombe just further trashed the ADC illegal elective convention. The ADC quagmire worsens,” he wrote.
The presidential aide also mocked opposition leaders, including Rauf Aregbesola, describing them as having no real stake in the party’s affairs.
“No pity for the SPV renters: Atiku, Obi, Aregbesola, Mark, Alhaji Kwankwaso,” he added.
The remarks come amid rising political tensions and realignments among opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the ADC emerging as a potential coalition platform.
