GOV. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has charged political stakeholders from the Nasarawa North senatorial zone to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Sule made the call on Wednesday at a meeting with key stakeholders from the zone at the Government House, Lafia.
He said reelecting Tinubu in 2027 would attract more dividends of democracy to the state.
“Let us continue to mobilise support for Mr President and the APC to ensure victory in 2027,” the governor said.
Sule also urged the stakeholders to ensure that the party wins all other elective positions, including the governorship, National Assembly seats and the forthcoming by-election for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat.
He noted that the seat was declared vacant following the death of Sen. Godiya Akwashiki.
The governor warned that losing the by-election could weaken the party’s chances ahead of the general elections.
He further disclosed that the APC governorship primary would be conducted through the direct mode, allowing registered party members to participate as delegates at the ward level.
According to him, this places greater responsibility on political appointees and stakeholders to mobilise support at the grassroots.
Sule appealed to political appointees who had submitted resignation letters to reconsider their decisions, noting that their exit at this critical period would not be in the party’s interest.
He said that his ongoing consultations, which had covered governorship aspirants from the southern and western zones, were aimed at fostering unity needed for electoral success.
The governor added that the northern zone must not be left out of the consultations.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was attended by members of the state executive council, special advisers, senior special assistants, heads and members of boards and parastatals from the zone, as well as other stakeholders. (NAN)
