Rihanna’s Beverly Hills home is at the center of a serious legal case after a woman accused of opening fire near the property entered a not guilty plea.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court on March 25 and pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including attempted murder. She also faces 10 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
Prosecutors allege Ortiz arrived at the home shared by Rihanna and A$AP Rocky on March 8 and “opened fire with a semiautomatic rifle” while the family was inside.
Authorities say she later fled the scene before being arrested in Sherman Oaks and that no injuries were reported.
Ortiz remains in custody on $1.875 million bail. Her attorney requested a reduction to $70,000, citing her financial situation, but the judge denied the request.
The motive has not been determined, and according to reports, Ortiz had previously posted messages online that appeared to reference the singer, including one that read, “Say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me.”
Sources have said the incident left the household shaken.
If convicted, Ortiz could face life in prison.
