Usher is shutting down reports that he had a heated exchange with Justin Bieber at an Oscars afterparty hosted by Beyonce and Jay-Z.
According to Da Brat, who spoke with Usher directly, the situation has been blown out of proportion. “He said, ‘This is an exaggeration of the conversation,’” she shared.
Reports had suggested the two artists had a tense standoff during the star-studded event, but Usher’s camp says there is no real conflict.
“He’s been nothing but supportive of Justin through the years,” Da Brat said.
She added, “They have no hostility toward each other. They definitely love each other.”
The longtime connection between the two dates back to Bieber’s early career, when Usher served as a mentor. “He’s like a child to me,” Usher previously said.
Da Brat also addressed how quickly narratives can spread. “People take things out of context and run with it,” she said. “That’s not what this is.”
For now, both artists appear to be moving forward without tension. “They’re cool,” she said.
