Stephen A. Smith is putting rumors about a possible presidential run to rest.
The ESPN commentator addressed the speculation during a preview clip from the debut episode of Hang Out with Sean Hannity. During the conversation, Smith joked about the realities of entering politics before making it clear that he does not see a White House campaign in his future.
“If I have to give up my money, it’s not happening,” Smith said with a laugh.
When Hannity asked if he was seriously considering a run in 2028, Smith offered a direct answer.
“I ain’t giving up my money,” he said. “Let me put the presidential aspirations to bed.”
Smith has previously acknowledged that some supporters encouraged him to think about entering politics. In past interviews, he said he had listened to those conversations, though he never fully committed to the idea.
During the podcast appearance, Smith also discussed political figures he believes could appeal to voters. He mentioned Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio as people he would watch in a national race.
For now, the outspoken sports analyst said his focus remains on his broadcasting career. Smith recently signed a lucrative contract with ESPN.
