Rumors are swirling online following Timothée Chalamet’s Oscars night, with new reports suggesting tension behind the scenes following his Best Actor loss.

The actor, who was considered a strong contender for his role in Marty Supreme, ultimately did not take home the award. According to sources, Chalamet was disappointed by the outcome and has been processing the moment in the days since.

One insider claimed he has questioned whether his high-profile relationship with Kylie Jenner may have influenced how he is perceived, per Rob Shuter.

“Timothée believes the Kardashian circus cost him the Oscar,” the source said.

Jenner, however, reportedly disagrees with that idea. Another source said she has pushed back on the suggestion.

“She’s telling friends the loss had nothing to do with her,” the insider shared, adding that she was frustrated by the speculation.

The couple, who have been linked for nearly three years, attended the ceremony together. Observers noted that Chalamet appeared emotional during parts of the evening after the winner was announced.

At one point, he was reportedly overheard expressing his disappointment.

“I hate this,” he said quietly during the show, according to a lip reader.

While some believe he could have been hit by the Kardashian curse, others believe it was his comments about ballet and the opera that earned him the snub.

“I admire people, and I’ve done it myself, who go on a talk show and say, ‘Hey, we’ve got to keep movie theaters alive, we’ve gotta keep this genre alive,’ and another part of me feels like if people want to see it, like ‘Barbie,’ like ‘Oppenheimer,’ they’re going to go see it and go out of their way to be loud and proud about it,” he told fellow actor Matthew McConaughey.

“I don’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore.’ All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there,” he added.

Chalamet faced major backlash for the comments.
