The musician known as D4vd is now a target of a grand jury investigation connected to the death of a 14-year-old girl whose remains were discovered inside the front trunk of a Tesla registered to him, PEOPLE has learned.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez was found on Sept. 8, 2025, inside a black Tesla Model X that had been impounded days earlier in the Hollywood Hills. No charges have been filed against the singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has been presenting evidence to a grand jury since November, according to court records.
In a petition filed by prosecutors, D4vd is described as a “target” who “may be involved in the death” of the teen, who authorities say may have been the victim of foul play. The filing states that a tow yard manager alerted police after noticing a strong odor emanating from the vehicle. Investigators later found a cadaver bag containing dismembered remains inside the front storage compartment.
A citizen had first reported the Tesla abandoned weeks earlier. Prosecutors noted that D4vd was on tour when the car was impounded. A law enforcement source previously revealed that the artist has not cooperated with investigators.
The district attorney’s office declined to comment as the investigation remains ongoing.
