Mystikal has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge stemming from his 2022 arrest.
The rapper, whose legal name is Michael Tyler, entered a guilty plea to third-degree rape in a Louisiana courtroom on March 12. The decision comes after he previously denied more serious accusations tied to the same case.
According to reports from local outlets, the plea agreement reduced the severity of the charges he faced. Mystikal had initially been accused of multiple offenses, including first-degree rape and other related counts.
He now faces a potential sentence that could include a hefty prison sentence. A sentencing date is expected to be set in the coming months.

The case centered on allegations brought forward by a woman who told authorities she had been assaulted during an encounter with the artist. He has not publicly addressed the plea. Mystikal is also listed as a registered sex offender after a prior case that resulted in a six-year prison term tied to convictions for sexual battery and extortion involving his former hairstylist. Years later, in 2017, he was again taken into custody in Louisiana on allegations of rape and kidnapping. He remained jailed for over a year before securing release on bond, and the case was ultimately dropped when a grand jury declined to pursue charges.
The Grammy-nominated rapper rose to prominence in the early 2000s with hits including “Shake Ya Ass” and has had a long and complicated legal history over the years.
If convicted under the original charges, he could have faced a much harsher outcome.
