The Kid Mero is not holding back after a heated online clash with DJ Akademiks spilled onto the airwaves at Hot 97.
During his “Mind of Mero” segment, the Hot 97 radio host addressed the feud directly. “I’m going to say this one time and one time only,” Mero said. “I don’t claim you. You depend on me to survive because if you don’t say my name, you got no motion.”
Mero went on to criticize Akademiks’ platform and content. “You a net negative to hip-hop culture,” he said. “You sit around talking crazy about people who matter more than you.”
He continued with sharp remarks about credibility. “Everything I’ve done has been culturally relevant,” Mero said. “We move culture. We make culture. We don’t just talk about it.”
Referencing his own career, he added, “I’ve sat with real figures. That’s not what you do, champ.”
The comments follow a weekend of back-and-forth exchanges online. Akademiks previously fired back during a livestream, calling Mero “absolutely atrocious” and questioning his staying power. “He’ll be gone soon,” he said.
Mero closed his message with a warning. “You don’t want no smoke,” he said. “If you see me outside, keep it moving.”
