Ice Cube’s War of the Worlds Named Worst Movie Of 2025 — Sweeps The Razzies
Ouch.
The new sci-fi remake starring Ice Cube just got roasted in Hollywood’s most brutal awards show. The 2025 version of War of the Worlds was officially crowned Worst Picture of the Year at the Golden Raspberry Awards, and the movie didn’t just win… it practically swept the entire ceremony.
According to Razzie voters, the film took home five awards out of the six categories it was nominated in, making it one of the biggest losers in Razzie history.
The Movie Took Home Five “Wins”
The film racked up trophies for:
• Worst Picture
• Worst Actor – Ice Cube
• Worst Director – Rich Lee
• Worst Screenplay – Kenny Golde and Marc Hyman
• Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel
That’s basically a clean sweep of the night.
Razzie organizers joked that the film became “a cult hate-watch classic almost immediately.”
Critics Say The Film “Destroyed” The Classic Story
The movie is loosely based on the famous alien invasion story written by H. G. Wells, but Razzie voters said the 2025 version went completely off the rails.

In their official statement, organizers didn’t hold back:
“Utterly destroying H.G. Wells’ classic novel, director Rich Lee chose a goofy gimmick, hack dialogue and a particularly hilarious performance by its lead, Ice Cube.”
They even compared the film to legendary B-movie director Ed Wood, whose low-budget films became famous for being unintentionally terrible.
A “Cult Hate-Watch” Is Born
Despite the harsh criticism, some fans say the movie might eventually gain a second life online.
The Razzies themselves even hinted that the film could become a “cult hate-watch classic.”
In other words… people might keep watching it just to laugh at how bad it is.
And in Hollywood, even bad publicity can sometimes turn into a strange kind of success.

Ice Cube Still Winning Overall
Of course, one bad movie isn’t likely to hurt Ice Cube’s career too much.
The rapper-turned-actor has spent decades building a massive entertainment empire, starring in hit films like Friday, Barbershop, and Ride Along.
So while War of the Worlds might go down as one of the worst films of 2025…
Ice Cube will probably be just fine.
Still, winning five Razzies in one night?
That’s the kind of Hollywood record nobody really wants.
