Fat Joe is asking a judge to take action in his ongoing legal dispute with former hypeman Terrance Dixon and attorney Tyrone Blackburn, alleging repeated misconduct during the discovery process.
According to court documents, Fat Joe, born Joseph Cartagena, claims Blackburn “obstructed his deposition using false claims of cognitive impairment” and delayed proceedings.
During testimony, Blackburn said, “So many cases, I don’t know. I can’t just, it’s a lot of cases,” before later confirming, “Yes, of course.”
He also cited health issues, stating, “I have taken narcotics today and that I do think that it’s kind of interfering a little bit with my ability to remember.” He added, “My brain is a little foggy because of the medication.”
The filings also reveal heated exchanges during Dixon’s deposition. Blackburn allegedly asked opposing counsel, “What date is your transition surgery?” while Dixon added, “You need some damn Botox like your co-counsel.”
The situation escalated further, with Dixon saying, “I could take you down with my left hand,” and Blackburn responding, “Everybody could take you down very easily.”
The dispute began after Dixon accused Fat Joe of unpaid work and made additional claims, which the rapper’s attorney previously called “false and outrageous.”
“I’ve faced a lot in recent months—losing my big brother, my father, my mother—and now I’m fighting back against these vile untruths. Rest assured, I will not yield nor retreat,” he wrote at the time. He continued, “I’ve never allowed anyone to extort me on the streets, so why would I let a dubious lawyer and a cowardly former hypeman do so? I hail from the Bronx!”
Fat Joe is now seeking sanctions, arguing the conduct has disrupted the case and delayed progress.
