Chance the Rapper has secured a legal win in his dispute with former manager Pat Corcoran, after a Chicago jury rejected Corcoran’s multimillion-dollar claim.
The verdict, delivered March 20 after a weeks-long trial, dismissed Corcoran’s request for $3.8 million in alleged unpaid commissions. However, jurors awarded Chance, whose legal name is Chancelor Bennett, just $35 in his countersuit despite seeking $1 million.
Corcoran had argued he was entitled to 15 percent of profits under a long-standing agreement, including payments after their 2020 split. His legal team cited what they described as a “sunset” arrangement that would extend compensation beyond the partnership.
Chance’s attorneys disputed that claim. “There’s not one single document in the seven years they worked together that shows any evidence of a sunset,” his lawyer said in court.

The rapper’s team also argued Corcoran had already been fully compensated and alleged he prioritized outside ventures over his responsibilities.
During testimony, Chance’s father, Kenn Bennett, described a shift in their working relationship following the release of the album “The Big Day.” He recalled being told, “I think we should do nothing,” adding that he had never heard that stance before.
Corcoran’s attorney responded after the verdict, saying, “We respect the jury’s decision,” while adding, “The message… is clear: Get it in writing.”
After the win, he plled up to Cardi B’s concert tour and showed her some love.
