Boosie BadAzz is speaking out after facing backlash online for asking former President Donald Trump for a presidential pardon.

The Louisiana rapper took to social media to respond to critics who questioned why he directed the request to Trump. In a lengthy post, Boosie said he was confused by the outrage and insisted he previously reached out to Vice President Kamala Harris with the same request.

“I can’t believe people mad at me for asking Trump for a pardon when I asked Kamala several times,” Boosie wrote. The rapper suggested the criticism reveals more about those reacting than about his decision to seek clemency.

Boosie asked for a pardon back in November,

“I’m still working on it,” Boosie said at the time. “I’m still trying. As you know, my voice is a loud voice. So, I’m still gonna be asking the president for a pardon. Right now, I don’t have it. But, I’m confident about my situation and I feel good about my situation.”

He was not granted a pardon.

Boosie went on to list several reasons he believes people are upset with him, claiming that some critics are racist, others want to see him incarcerated, and some are simply jealous of his career.

He also brought up President Joe Biden during the online rant. Boosie questioned why some people were not equally upset about reports that Biden pardoned his son after previously indicating that would not happen. The rapper suggested that their legal situations were comparable.

Despite the backlash, Boosie stood by his decision to ask for help publicly.

“Who wants to go to jail?” he wrote, defending his attempt to secure a pardon and dismissing critics who attacked him online.
