Maia Campbell recently appeared on The Art of Dialogue to speak about her career, and not long in, the interview took a turn when discussing rumors about the entertainment industry.
“What is selling your soul? What does that even mean?” she said in response to a question. “I don’t even understand what that means.”
As the exchange went on, Campbell appeared increasingly frustrated and paused the interview.
“I’m sorry. I’m getting a little frustrated,” she said before ending the conversation and leaving.
Throughout the discussion, Campbell rejected claims about exploitation in Hollywood, sharing her own perspective on the industry.
“My family died from cancer,” she said. “My family didn’t die from Hollywood.”
She also described entertainment as a space for creativity rather than something to fear.
“I feel like it gives people a platform to express themselves,” she said. “It’s better to live in the spotlight than it is to live in silence.”
Maia Campbell rose to fame in the 1990s with standout roles on television, becoming a familiar face to audiences through shows like In the House, where she starred alongside LL Cool J, and South Central. Over the years, Campbell has also appeared in films and other television projects.
