The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is addressing an incident involving Teyana Taylor that took place at the Academy Awards, saying it was “extremely upset” by what occurred.
In a statement shared after the ceremony, the organization said, “We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor.” The Academy added that guest safety is a priority, noting, “The experience of every guest is our responsibility, and this behavior is not acceptable.”
The incident went down after Taylor’s film One Battle After Another won Best Picture. As attendees gathered for a post-win photo, Taylor was stopped by a security guard while attempting to return to the stage.

She later added, “He literally shoved me.”
The Academy confirmed the guard involved was part of an outside security team and said the situation has been addressed internally, with steps being taken to avoid similar incidents.
Taylor later acknowledged the statement on social media.
“I really appreciate your unwavering love and support,” she wrote.
“I just don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it’s unwarranted and it’s unprovoked”
