Tameka Foster, the ex-wife of Usher, is speaking out after newly surfaced body cam footage showed her arrest for failure to appear in court following a traffic citation.
According to TMZ, Foster was taken into custody on Jan. 5 after returning to Georgia from a trip to St. Barths. The warrant stemmed from a ticket she received last year for driving without insurance. Although she later purchased coverage, she did not appear in court to present proof, which led to the arrest order.
In the footage, a Brookhaven police officer is seen allowing Foster to make a phone call and offering reassurance. “I mean, if I were acting belligerent or something, I’d understand,” Foster said while noticing the officer holding handcuffs.
She attempted to keep the mood light during the encounter, joking as the officer helped her unlock her phone and promised he was not looking through it. Foster then called her mother and tried to resolve the issue on the spot.
Foster and Usher were married from 2007 to 2009 and share two sons, Usher “Cinco” Raymond V, 18, and Naviyd Ely, 17.
“This is the craziest out-of-body s–t I’ve ever experienced,” she said. “The sad part is, I got pulled over for nothing. I don’t even have a speeding ticket.”
Foster also mentioned that the incident came just days after her birthday and asked the officer not to share details of the arrest.
