Loni Love is standing firmly by her longtime friend Sherri Shepherd following the news that Shepherd’s daytime talk show, Sherri, is ending after four seasons.
A day after the cancellation became public, Love criticized the way the announcement was handled, saying Shepherd deserved to share the news herself. “Sherri should have been given the courtesy of announcing her show’s end instead of an article announcing it,” Love wrote on X.
She added that Shepherd should have received the same respect afforded to other hosts. “Just like Kelly got to announce her show’s end,” Love continued, referring to Kelly Clarkson’s recent statement about her own series.
Love, who previously co-hosted The Real with Shepherd, said the situation felt especially unfair because Sherri was a solo-hosted program.

“It’s not like The Real, which was a panel show, but this was a solo-hosted show,” she wrote. “Or the production company could have at least made a joint announcement as a producer and host.”
The comedian also acknowledged how painful public headlines can be for someone who built the show from the ground up. “Seeing ‘cancelled’ stamped all over your picture is depressing, especially when the show was having good ratings,” Love said. “Only onward and upward from this.”
The show’s producers said the decision was based on changes in the daytime TV landscape and praised Shepherd’s talent. There are reportedly talks behind the scenes with Wendy Williams to return to her daytime tv slot.
