Lizzo is stepping in to defend Jay-Z after his name appeared in a newly released batch of documents tied to the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

In a video shared on social media, the Grammy winner questioned how quickly people rushed to judgment without reading the context of the files.

“It’s just like the American people in comments. I knew he was wrong, Jay-Z! I knew he was… What did it say Jay-Z did? He was there in 1996?” she said, adding that the public was being swayed by simple name recognition. “Y’all are falling for it; it’s the easiest, oldest trick in a book.”

Lizzo also voiced frustration with online reactions, suggesting that a name appearing in a massive archive does not automatically mean wrongdoing. “Honestly, I’m losing faith in the average intelligence of the American person because come on,” she vented. “Where is the crime? Focus!”

She explained that in a collection of millions of documents, references can be tied to business or social connections rather than illegal behavior. According to Lizzo, the mention of Jay-Z appeared to relate to professional success rather than scandal.

The singer has long spoken out about how narratives can quickly spiral online, and is urging fans to read carefully before assuming the worst.
