Jake Paul attempted to ease fresh backlash after a late-night post criticizing Bad Bunny reignited online debate.
After the original tweet went viral, Paul returned to X and suggested something went wrong with his account.

“Guys, I love Bad Bunny idk what happened on my Twitter last night?” he wrote, adding a confused emoji. The tweet raised eyebrows, with many fans questioning how such a controversial comment could appear without intent.
As backlash continued, Paul followed up with a second post offering more context. He said the issue centered on wording rather than nationality.
“The problem with my tweet is the word fake being misinterpreted,” he wrote. “He’s not a fake citizen obviously because he’s Puerto Rican, and I love Puerto Rico and all Americans who support the country.”
Paul went on to clarify that his criticism focused on ideology. “More so, Bunny is fake because of his values and criticism of our great country,” he added.
The clarification did little to quiet the response. Some social media users felt the follow-up conflicted with his earlier claim that he did not know how the tweet appeared while others believed he shifted from distancing himself to defending the sentiment once backlash became unavoidable.
