Da Brat and her wife, Judy Dupart, are opening up about their marriage while promoting their new memoir and relationship guide, The Way Love Goes.
Appearing on Sherri, the couple shared that writing the book, which is out now, brought up some old moments they thought were long behind them.
Dupart described the project as more than a personal story, saying, “It not only is a book about us, but it also is a love manual that gives insights on how we’ve been able to get through our challenges.”
When host Sherri Shepherd asked what surprised them most during the process, Da Brat joked that she learned Judy “don’t forget about some stuff that I thought we had let go of in the past.”
That opened the door to a memorable disagreement involving an ex. Dupart recalled, “Why is you texting your ex that she got pretty feet?”
Da Brat tried to explain. “Somebody sent me a picture of their feet, and I said it was pretty,” she said. “But I didn’t know it was going to offend my beautiful wife. Otherwise, I would not have did that.”
The situation escalated quickly. “My phone got thrown across the room, shattered into pieces,” Brat added. “I will never do that again.”
The rapper has since made it clear she believes in closing old chapters. “Anybody that’s getting ready to date somebody and you know that’s your person, you got to close out those situations,” she said.
