Lamar Odom is taking steps toward recovery following his recent arrest in Las Vegas.
The retired NBA star has entered a 30-day rehabilitation program after being charged with driving under the influence on Jan. 17. His manager, Gina Rodriguez, confirmed that Odom checked into iRely Recovery to focus on his health and sobriety.
“After a recent incident, he took a step back to reflect and address triggers he’s been dealing with,” Rodriguez told Page Six. “He’s taking full responsibility and choosing to be proactive about his wellbeing.”
Rodriguez said the decision was entirely Odom’s. “Lamar is grateful for the support and is committed to moving forward in a healthy, positive way,” she added.
According to TMZ, Odom is working to stop using marijuana because he worries it could lead him back to harder substances. In addition to the DUI charge, he also faces two traffic citations related to speeding and an improper lane change.
The arrest comes after years of public struggles with addiction. In 2015, Odom survived a near-fatal overdose after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel. He later claimed he believed drugs had been “slipped into” his drink.
At the time, his then-wife Khloé Kardashian paused their divorce proceedings to care for him while he was hospitalized. The couple had originally filed for divorce in 2013.
