Bill Cosby could be pulled back into the legal spotlight after a new report surfaced about past testimony tied to a decades-old allegation.
According to TMZ, the 88-year-old entertainer once said in a deposition that he obtained quaaludes with the intention of giving them to women before sex.
The prescription allegedly came from a gynecologist friend during poker games more than 50 years ago, before 1972, and was refilled several times. The disclosure is expected to play a role in a lawsuit brought by Donna Motsinger, who claims Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1972 when she worked as a waitress in California.
A legal representative for Cosby has denied the accuracy of the report.
Former crisis manager Andrew Wyatt defended Cosby during an appearance on Jesse Weber Live, saying the comedian rejected all accusations. “He said, ‘Andrew, I wouldn’t take you through the valley of shame,’” Wyatt recalled. He added that Cosby acknowledged using quaaludes in the past but disputed criminal behavior. “Yes, I had quaaludes. Quaaludes was called ‘disco biscuits,’ and all of the entertainers had them,” Wyatt said.
Cosby rose to fame as a trailblazing stand-up comic and TV star before multiple women accused him of sexual assault. In 2018, he was convicted in Pennsylvania, but that ruling was overturned in 2021 and he was released from prison.
