Nemesis has caught up with three suspected kidnappers in Lagos as they are now cooling their feet in police custody.
Our correspondent reliably learnt that the suspects were apprehended by detectives attached to Ishashi Division led by the DPO CSP Talabi on 27th August, 2024 at about 12:00am.
As gathered, the suspects identified as Edem Chuks, 24, Oluwatobi Adeniji, 23 and Emmanuel Ebere had kidnapped a 25 year old man at Oke Moro area of Ishashi in Iba Local Council Development Area of the State.
Following a distress call, the detectives were said to have swiftly raced to the scene, where the victim was rescued and the suspects arrested.
Prior to the arrest of the suspects, it was also learnt that the mother of the victim had transferred the sum of N200 million ransom to the kidnappers through two different bank accounts, while they also collected the sum of N100 million from the victim’s account through mobile transfer.
In addition, they were alleged to have also dispossessed the victim of his three Nigeria International Passport and other valuable items.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest in a release made available to our correspondent on Wednesday.
He hinted that investigation is on going on the matter, while effort is being made to track fleeing members of the suspects.
The release titled ” ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPERS” reads, ON 27/08/2024 AT ABOUT 1200HRS, ISASHI DIVISION RECEIVED A DISTRESS CALL FROM A CONCERNED CITIZEN, THAT SOME HOODLUMS HAD KIDNAPPED AN UNKNOWN PERSON AT OKE MORO, ISASHI.
” A TEAM OF POLICEMEN LED BY THE DPO, IMMEDIATELY RACED TO THE SCENE, WHERE ONE MALE VICTIM AGED 25, WAS RESCUED. THE SUSPECTS, ONE EDEM CHUCKS ‘M’ AGED 24, OLUWATOBI ADENIJI ‘M’ AGED 23 AND EMMANUEL EBERE ‘M’ WERE ARRESTED.
“PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE SUSPECTS, AFTER BEATING THE VICTIM, REQUESTED FOR TWO MILLION NAIRA (#2,000,000.00) RANSOM, WHICH HIS MOTHER PAID THROUGH TWO DIFFERENT BANK ACCOUNT AND THE SUSPECTS ALSO COLLECTED THE SUM ONE MILLION NAIRA (#1,000,000.00) FROM THE VICTIM’S BANK ACCOUNT THROUGH MOBILE TRANSFER, THE VICTIM WAS ALSO DISPOSESSED OF HIS THREE (03) NIGERIA INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT AND OTHER VALUABLE ITEMS.
” INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING WHILE EFFORTS IS BEING MADE TO TRACK OTHER FLEEING SUSPECTS.”
